Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions. Click on them to expand the answer.

What should I expect on my first visit?
  • We ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes early to your first visit to fill out the patient forms, or you may download them here on our website under the patient center tab.
  • Please bring a copy of your insurance card(s), a list of medications, your drivers license, and a copy of any test results that have been performed. You may also bring a copy of your doctors referral if you have one; In the state of Ohio you do not need a doctor referral for us to treat you.
  • We encourage our patients to wear comfortable attire.
  • The first visit will approximately last one hour. You will be seen for the initial evaluation by the therapist.

The therapist will discuss the following:

  • Your medical history.
  • Your current problems/complaints of dizziness, vertigo, and balance deficits.
  • How this is impacting your daily activities, what functional limitations you have.
  • Your goals of physical therapy.
  • Medications, tests, and procedures related to your health.
  • Discuss the evaluation findings and treatment course to meet your needs.

The therapist will then perform the objective evaluation which may include some of the following:

  • Dizziness and vertigo testing
  • Functional static balance testing
  • Functional dynamic balance testing
  • Strength testing
  • Neck ROM and flexibility testing
  • After the first visit, an individualized treatment program will be designed to meet your needs based on your therapist’s findings.
  • On your next visit, please allow 45-60 minutes for the follow up session.
Does it hurt?

No. Everyone has heard that physical therapy should be named ‘physical torture’. Since we assess and treat dizziness, vertigo, and balance deficits, no pain is involved. You may expect to feel some dizziness during treatments, but it won’t be to the point of incapacitating you.

Am I going to get a bill? How much will I pay?

We will verify and notify you of any payment responsibility on your end (Co-pay, Co-insurance etc.). You will not get any surprise bills. Billing for physical therapy services is similar to what happens at your doctor’s office. When you are seen for treatment, the following occurs:

  1. The physical therapist bills your insurance company, Workers’ Comp, etc. and charges are based on Common Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes.
  2. Those codes are transferred to a billing form that is electronically communicated to the payer.
  3. The payer processes this information and makes payments according to an agreed upon fee schedule.
  4. An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is generated and sent to the patient and the physical therapy clinic with payment and a balance due by the patient.
  5. The patient is expected to make the payment on the balance if any.

It is important to understand that there are many small steps (beyond the outline provided above) within the process. Exceptions are common to the above example as well. At any time along the way, information may be missing, intercommunicated, or misunderstood. This can delay the payment process. While it is common for the payment process to be completed in 60 days or less, it is not uncommon for the physical therapy clinic to receive payment as long as six months after the treatment date.

Does a doctor have to refer me for treatment?

No. You may make an appointment without a referral from a doctor in the state of Ohio. Medicare allows an initial visit, but does require a doctor signature on our plan of care. After the initial visit we send a plan of care to your doctor for review and signature if applicable.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Scheduling is easy! Just call the location you wish to go to and we take care of the rest. We verify all insurance coverage, number of visits allowed, co-pays, co-insurances, and any other related issues. In other words, there will not be any surprises.

How long will I have to do therapy?

This is highly variable. You may need one visit or you may need months of care. It depends on your symptoms and deficits found on the initial evaluation, the severity of your impairments, your past medical history, etc. Your progress is reassessed frequently and a progress note will be sent to your doctor, we like to keep everyone in the loop.

Why are you different from any other physical therapy clinic?

We get this question a lot. The answer is simple, we only treat patients suffering from dizziness, vertigo, and balance deficits. Our sole practice concentration is in this area, and our clinicians are specialists in treating these symptoms. Our clinics are designed in a comfortable atmosphere, not a gym like intimidating setting that are typical in traditional clinics. Another big benefit is that you will be surrounded by patients with similar symptoms. Our treatment session are one-on-one clinician to patient, and last approximately 45-60 minutes. You get our undivided attention.
